Psychotherapy, Coaching and Consultation
My Work with Individuals: My work with individuals is from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model which is greatly influenced by Attachment science and Family Systems Therapy. I have completed a variety of Level 2 trainings through the Internal Family Systems Institute (IFSI). You can learn more about IFS through this brief video of its developer, Dr. Richard Schwartz. In addition to IFS, I am also trained and Certified in the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model that was developed by Sue Johnson. Learn more about Emotionally Focused Therapy here. Both these approaches explore and can help the complexity, tensions and suffering we might carry within our own individual experience, and can also help with the pain, conflict and disconnection we might be experiencing in relationship with others.
My Work with Couples: Couples can develop patterns of interacting that lead to frustrating arguments, immovable conflict and painful disconnection from each other. I help couples calm the fighting, move from stuck places, and shift those negative patterns into more secure and loving connection.
I have worked primarily from the evidence-based model of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) that’s based on the growing understanding of human development and Attachment science. I also have training in Intimacy from the Inside Out. IFIO is the application of IFS when working with intimate couples that was developed by Toni Herbine-Blank.
Consultation: I offer individual and small group (3-4 people) consultation to therapists and providers who are developing their use of the IFS model in their work. At this time, my consultation is only with licensed providers who have been trained through the IFS Institute, the IFSCA Stepping Stones program, or an equivalent training. And because I am not yet Certified by the IFSI as a Certified Consultant, hours with me will not yet count toward IFSI certification. As I do move toward becoming a certified consultant, I am offering consultation at a reduced rate.
EMDR: I am trained in EMDR and the FLASH technique, powerful approaches that promote accelerated healing from negative experiences that can manifest as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem & creative blocks. EMDR and FLASH also promote healing from the destructive impacts of child abuse and neglect, assault, divorce, medical trauma & grief.
Coaching: In addition to a psychotherapy model, I also work from the Co-Active model of coaching & leadership development. The IFS model also informs my coaching work to help people connect with and pursue their deepest sense of purpose & passion.
Online & In Person Sessions: At this time, I am working either through a secure Telehealth video platform (Simple Practice), through telephone consultations, or in person in San Rafael, CA.
